Born in 1984. Anthony Is an American artist and musician currently based in Scotland. He completed his MFA (Merit) at the Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow, UK. Pursuing the idea that what exists outside eventually comes inside, Anthony has recently completed a significant body of work while in residence in North Wales, UK and will later this year be participating in the intern artist programme at Franconia Sculpture Park, MN (USA).

Soil is one of most natural and essential elements to life as we know it. However, it can also be a great force of destruction. Lifting it from its rightful place, transporting it to an alternate site, and forcing it into a solid geometric shape, we watch it begin to lean towards what I will refer to as the unnatural. When confined to this block, the soil adopts allusion to the allotted plots on which trees are to flourish among pavement in cities, or to that of blocked out pieces of raw earth hidden beneath the sprawl of concrete amidst all rural environments. It is my intention to draw on and pair the natural and unnatural and I am interested in the relationships developed/formed/forced between the two.
