Ilaria Giulia Mafessoni – Riccardo Lovatini

Born in Melzo, 1986. Lives in Pozzuolo Martesana. Born in Milan, 1982. Lives in Peschiera Borromeo, Italy.
Ilaria has a degree in Interior Design at the Politecnico di Milano, in 2013 she obtained a Master “Communicating sustainable tourism.” Richard is an architect and Teaching assistant at the Politecnico di Milano.
Both are interested in experimentation and research on vegetables, natural and recycled materials applied to architecture, art and design.

Cocoon

The installation, as the cosmic energy, has a spiral motion that allows the rediscovery of ourselves through contact with nature which facilitates the process of re-creating the order primordial. This positive recurrent symbol in many ancient civilizations, the spiral has always been considered an expression for solar excellence. It is a geometry inherent in many forms of life, from the cell to the whole universe, and this allows you to make an analogy between the microcosm and the macrocosm.
Cocoon “protects” from the outside world which allows you to focus on ourselves, turning its gaze towards nature and the surrounding environment. The straw provides isolation, ideal for giving life to a moment of total detachment: its scent, which leads immediately to the land and cultivated fields and gives a sense of calm and relaxation; its appearance makes the work a warm and reassuring cocoon.
