Space as an Organism

Space as an Organism deals with the idea that man-made spaces can be living “creatures” themselves. By using a technique of intuitively weaving rope, that is inspired by spiders a dome-shaped web installation is created. The net-construction depends entirely on its surrounding nature and creates a symbiotic relationship with it. The viewer becomes part of the installation – the organism, by sitting in it or by continuing the weaving process itself. But like any living being the net is never frozen in a status quo. It changes and grows in the process of making. It reflects the weather conditions, the use, the people involved and time passed by. The web forms a temporary, structural landscape – an environment for interaction and activities, as well as a place to relax and enjoy nature.
