Capturing the Essence of Nature

My project is based on the myth of Butades, in which his daughter drew on the surface of a wall the silhouette of her beloved´s shadow to capture his image when he was not there anymore. I draw the silhouettes of the trees imitating her act, to capture the soul of the trees and the essence of nature. I do this as an act of claiming the forest, since thousands of square meters of forest are being destroyed every day more and more around the world. For drawing the silhouettes on the ground I will use wood sticks as anchor points to tie red cotton thread. The work will be done during sun hours, making sometimes that the shadows overlap each other, drawing a complex pattern on the ground.
