Lorena Pedemonte Tarodo
Santiago (Cile), 1969.
Born in Chile, has Italian-Spanish origins. In 1999 she moved there motivated by her curiosity for color and shapes, especially for their versatility, which led her to work with different materials, used with a wide variety of supports, creating pictorial works, engravings, light and environmental installations.
Space and communicating without words fascinate her, therefore she tries to involve the user, leaving him the possibility of creating new paths or elements by interacting with the work itself.
Manto Sensoriale / Luogo Non Luogo
The work takes up the common theme of all her poetry: the path that leads the person – in a playful and sensorial way, precisely because it is still analogical – to discover the forms of the environment of which he/she is a part, starting from the micro-traces, from the constitutive signs of the elementary universe of natural elements.
She proposes a non-place materialized in a sort of sensory mantle that surrounds the border environment between the water course and the outposts of the plain.
The user will perceive through the work the optical, tactile and sonorous sensation of belonging to this universe, which is shaped in the light, which is the flow of becoming water, earth and man.
Fine metallic or plastic meshes are folded and shaped to create a mantle that fragments, through light, the shape in its elements; full and empty spaces are created that combine with the light generated bya the optical filter effect realized by encapsulating colored plastic elements with different shades: blue, light blue, green and transparent.
The surface is uneven like water; the non-place does take place and is connected to nature; it allows a reflection on the respect of this, of its purity, of its colors, shapes and meanings.
This installation with visible stations for dimensions and elementary forms, gives the possibility to the user to approach, travel, enter and stop inside, becoming an integral part of it.
