The work entitled “Cradle of Sound” is made of woven branches, pruning surrounding recovered from the river Adda, linked and curved to form a cradle made of two ellipses joined together.
Inside the ellipses are stretched two ropes which are screwed onto the metal bars which create a xylophone, the true heart of the structure. The work is not being fixed to the ground, can be made swinging. This allows a small swing tied to a rope (similar to a pendulum) to play in a completely free the metal through an oscillatory movement irregular.
The concept that underlies the work is the recovery of intimacy with the nature lost through an instrument that becomes, not only to the amazing view in size and shape but also, and above all, for its ability to be interactive with visitors . The sound becomes the channel through which to find the chemistry between the man and his surroundings, since the vibrations of the sculpture resonate with the voices of the river and wind through the branches.
