The horizontal stratums of the natural subsoil make me draw a parallel between the stacked layers of cream and flaky pastry of a vanilla slice, called in French a “millefeuille” (= thousand leaves) and the natural process how the soil has been built.
Apart from #3 leitmotiv’s consist in cutting a part from it to describe the many facets of the specific context. The recipe shows the Borromeo island park landscape. The process to find the component is as important as the method of production to reed it. The main ingredients are the soil and also local know-how that I’ll found very close, in the neighboring area or in the local crafts.
The top layer of the piece, a fiddly decorative icing and the light and dark layers of material found all around, make us focus on this surprising pop up cake laying in the middle of the landscape, ready to be eaten.
In fact, this appetizing cake refers to the fertile earth slowly built, shared in parts, where urbanization expands. A circle of branches plaits the edge of a plate to surround the limits board and lodging development.
